The original LGPS NRA was 65 for both men and women, with R85 applying equally to both genders.

However, it was the case that more men than women actually qualified for full R85, because they tended to accrue more service.

I would say that many women LGPS members  'assumed' that their retirement age was 60, just because that was their SPA, and retired from their LGPS jobs to tally with that.
It’s all coming back to me now - the fact that NRA was 65 for women was a ‘downside’ because we were all going to retire at 60 and whizz about in our flying cars…...

My scenario of leaving an LGPS scheme with 92.5% of my benefits covered by the Rule of 85 was actually a really good one, in hindsight. I wish I’d known at the time!

  • The Post Office scandal has provoked some misguided woman to write to The Herald here in Scotland comparing it to the WASPI situation and demanding that full compensation is now paid.......that she has the brass neck to compare a systematic and massive miscarriage of justice to the 'entitlement' demanded by those who had been told otherwise. No doubt some politicians will now support her.....

    Unfortunately some already do.

But the voting public doesn't.  Corbyn promised shed loads of compo for the WASPE women if he won the last election - and we know how that panned out.

Cobblers.  It's already been confirmed that the only thing DWP did wrong was its failure to issue letters over a 2 year period in the early 2000s.

Compensation, if any, will be in respect of this admin FUBAR only - and is unlikely to be more than £500.
    Reports like this:

The ombudsman is legally not able to recommend the government reimburses women for the full amount of pension they did not receive.

However, it can recommend that at least some of those impacted receive payments of £10,000 or more, though it is not yet known how any compensation scheme would work.

    don't help.

I wonder how many women who expected to receive their pension at age 60 believe they'll get compensation around that figure.

again people didn't actually look at the calculators , I checked mine - would have got about £450 or maybe it was £800 (lost in the mists of time) - anyway nowhere near the full amounts that some assumed they would have got
