Hello, the dividend on this company looks good however they are struggling a little bit.
Would this be classed as a high risk investment or a decent buy?
Potentially the absolute return looks decent if bought for a few years from now.

Don't know anything about them other than the price is down about 20% over the last 5 years.MarcoM said:Hello, the dividend on this company looks good however they are struggling a little bit.

But rather than asking a few anonymous strangers on a board like this, you could ask what the whole market thinks, including those who actually hold it. And the market says as of today it's worth £5.46 a share.
You are unlikely to get a better informed opinion than from the people who are putting their money where their mouth is by holding it. You could also check the FT to see whether directors are buying or selling but don't put too much store in that.

Struggling? How? If you're actually asking, "why does the market not like this company?" in the past it's because it was seen as a business that over the long run is effectively winding itself down as all of the legacy endowments and other policies mature. However, in the last couple of years it's begun to generate new business under the Standard Life brand it now owns and, IIRC, it's now matching the run-off of old policies. You need to make your own mind up but some people like it as a value play e.g., Investors' Chronicle. I own some shares in it, too.MarcoM said:Hello, the dividend on this company looks good however they are struggling a little bit.
