Hello everyone!
I am a long time lurker and i have enjoyed reading this thread, (and many others..) but I just had to join so that I could properly post and join in.
I have been using slice the pie for a while after seeing it on here, and I was in the top ten uk list but since then i think my accuracy has gone down the drain!
I would like to kinda join this challenge, though I really dont know how or anything, and im probably miles too late (hmm, wish id had more courage to post earlier!) but hey. I am a 4* scout and think that STP is a great tool for procrastinating from exam revision
I've noticed its just been mentioned, but I was sort of wondering myself about the whole tax issue. I am a full time student without a job so I wouldnt have to pay any tax on earnings but I'm terrified of being in the wrong and being landed with a fine. what does everyone think about this? and, what are you all doing?
Misspixie you seem to be a bit of a STP (and stp forum) queen and have relatively high earnings so I would really like to know what you're doing about the issue!!?
sorry for all of my ramblings, this is my first ever forum post!

Hello Tink! Welcome to the challenge..can't ever be too late to join in
As with the tax issue you mention, I haven't a clue to be honest. I guess you have to claim it as an income and pay tax on it0 -
Hey Tinx,
I'm a student too, amazing the powers of STP procrastination eh! To be honest, the tax on anything like that if it were to be paid would be absolutely minimal, so I'm guessing it's tax exempt. If you're that worried, why not drop them an email?...I like my coffee black, just like my metal!

sorry again for my wafling

Yep, hmrc.gov.uk You could try e-mailing them if not, at least then you won't have to try and explain it over the phone!0

Sorry by them I meant slicethepie! Too much reviewing makes my head turn to mush, but I really love the amount of new music I'm getting to hear. Whoever came up with the site is brilliant. Tenner tonight then I'm off to bed, nearly there!...I like my coffee black, just like my metal!

I signed up earlier today after reading this thread, and just by picking up a couple of tracks here and there when I've had a moment, I've earnt 90p.
So, I reckon £5 a week is realistic, and I hope to beat it most weeks, and review it as I gain stars.
On the tax side of things - my understanding from past tax discussions (mostly on eBay) is that for things like this where you earn money (mystery shopping, selling goods bought specifically for that purpose etc) rather than gain it as a reward (Quidco, catalogue commissions etc), your income should be declared (although I've yet to come across anyone in these discussions who actually does).
Also, if you're not already taxed somewhere else (students, benefits etc), then I very much doubt for most of us this would ever reach high enough levels to use up an entire tax allowance.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
Thanks for the tax input earthmother.
To be honest I doubt the IR would be bothered about a few tenners here and there, and if you have enough time to do STP as a big, regular thing, then chances are you aren't earning enough to hit the tax threshold.
Anyway, I finally hit £10.23, though 60p odd of that will get wiped out by bloody paypal and their fees to receive money, boo hiss!...I like my coffee black, just like my metal!

What I do is wait until I have just over £50 in my Paypal then transfer it to my bank, that way no fees are applied. Been on STP since Xmas Day and made £45 so far. Was 1 star until the 2nd of Janthen went to 3 stars. Aiming now to get them 1000 reviews to get to 4
(only another 150 to go)
