Creditor not showing correct amount for over a year?..

Hi, have recently applied for a mortgage, so have looked into my credit file.
a creditor I owed money to a long time ago, is still reporting defaults and reporting I owe ‘x’ amount.
phoned them yesterday, and they have sent me an email confirmation that the account is now closed, and up to date, and has been since 18/3/22.
Do I now have grounds to make a formal complaint?, as the account wasn’t in default nor in arrears while it was originally open, and is now showing defaulted for 1 year.
this is obviously financially impacting me on this mortgage application.
I have read I can make a formal complaint and request the funds paid back, and also the account removed from my file completely due to their irresponsibility and lack of correct reporting.

Did you mean the funds you paid to clear the loan? No - unless you want to actually be in arrears.Mikej92 said:

You can make a complaint and ask for the data to be rectified.1
