Precisely. Many years ago a friend of my father removed a double switch in the hall, incorporating a 2 way to decorate and left all the bare wires exposed. Went to the pub for several, came back and decides some of the wires in the switch weren't needed. Out came the wire cutters....... Long story short he nearly killed himself and did literally blow up the old style fuse box. He got a lot more than a flea in his ear from the missus.
