I'll try again tomorrow. Don't have a google account so I'll go anonymous...........lol

What an afternoon ! Mums Building Society has now decided that Power of Attorney cases, where there are two people, as there are with me and brother, only one can have a bldg.soc. card and up till now I've not needed one to use her account for paying bills etc. for her. In future I can't make any withdrawals without a card. Brother currently has mums card but seems we can't both have one.............

Thats just one hiccup............another one, trivial really, is our don'tdumpthat site has now changed so I logged in but still can't get on to my home page !
Why they've changed it heaven knows.
...........hardly makes for a simplified life, all these little changes.............

So, went out and had some 'retail therapy'.................lol New charity shop was relieved of two pairs of knee length stripey socks for grandaughter for christmas, and help the aged had bargains in the form of Calven Klein stuff (suit grandson) and a hot pebbles massage kit so I came home happy. Oh, and I got some candles for us.............lol

Hi all, I've started a money saving blog so thought I'd drop a message on here - hoping to upload a new post every day so please do leave comments and let me know what you think so far!

    Savings Now:
    http://savingsnow.blogspot.com

It really is about more simplicity, less spending, more time...

Will go and have a looksee. Good luck with it.

EDIT: Been off for a quick looksee. Can I make a teensy suggestion - I think it helps meself if one has the full range of options for a commenter - I know it puts me off personally if I cant just go via my standard blog address label for any comments I wish to make and I think it helps commenters generally if they can see an "anonymous" option. I have the standard 4 option thingie on my blog - think everyone can manage to leave a comment thataways - and without wondering if t'Internet has kept their password somewheres along t'line - LOL! So - If you'd like to trundle off for a leetle looksee at how I have the comments thingie dealt with on my blog - just click for my homepage and you'll be there on "me blog".

    Best wishes

Hmmmm.....no sign of Mary43 yet today methinks....<waves - Hi Mary - and everyone else>. Will now try and have relaxing rest of weekend - had to sort out stuff on my house (again) this morning....now done! Noted that my "preparedness" sorting out I have been doing is nearly complete now - the wind-up lantern, wind-up radio, Kelly Kettle/storm kettle, my waterbutt is there out back and filled to brim with water....darn awful news in the newspapers today....well, I've said my piece on that in "me blog" (Lit my little candle against the darkness)

    - so I'm off for some pure escapism in a good book (of the fiction variety) now - luverly!! "Labyrinth" by Kate Mosse if anyone's interested....

:hello: Hi ceridwen - been about as had a bit of checking up to do on POA legalities, mums assetts etc. Too complex to explain on here but suffice to say that due to changes in bldg.soc. rules it will be difficult for both me and big bruv to have equal control and I can foresee disagreements brewing so trying to sort out thing so I know what the legalities are before I open mouth and put two feet in if you know what I mean.
Strange day............waited for builder to arrive and inspect hole in ceiling -he didn't arrive (I could have covered shoe box with paper and started on my door hangers !) By the time it seemed apparent he wasn't coming yougest lad came back from fishing absolutely drenched and older lad (who didnt come home till 7am !!!) had managed to climb out of bed so peace was disturbed !
They're now in the process of cooking a sausage sandwich........must remember to not let them move until they've washed up ! What with radio on and two different 'noises' as mobile ring tones they have at this rate my head will start to burst very shortly  Why they can't have a normal ring tone I'll never know......................lol Now oldest one is whining on about not having any credit - methinks he's angling for yet more money...........well not from me he won't !
Feel I've had a kind of wasted day so I'm trying hard to look on it as having a day of relaxation.............then maybe it won't seem like its all been a waste of time................................lol

You sound well organised with all your contraptions..............would that I were.................lol And the idea of losing myself in a good book is so tempting but with 'jingle bells'(or whatever it is ) in the background concentration wouldn't be easy.

Oh............while the other lad is actually up and awake........he said he's got a lot of plastic sleeves in his room (why I won't ask!).......just what I need to sort my local history papers out ! The day is not lost after all !!!...:rotfl:

Ooh Ceridwen I am reading Labyrinth at the moment too. I am really enjoying it and must hit the library for anything else by her I can find. My next library request has come through, though, so I have The Suspicions of Mr Whitcher next.

Eeeek! DH and DD have just come back from the market. Caught the fruit stall just as it was closing and got 8lbs of strawberries for £2.50 and 4lbs of plums for £1.80. So that's me making lots of jam then - except I have no jars left apart from a mega-big coffee jar and 2 kilner jars. I could be making strawberry jam in 3lb jars at this rate LOL.

Well done 2cats - Ive never ever made jam !! Used to watch gran make it and Mum but never had a go myself...........mind you, with all our relatives making it and giving it to us through the years there hasn't been the need to and even now, ex foster girls sister is getting into jam making.........we're keeping old coffee jars etc. for her on the proviso we get some in return...........lol

Well had a bit of a panic as no pectin in the house, and strawberry jam needs pectin. Used the remains of the pectin from the last lot of strawberry jam (also a market bargain, but not quite as good) in apple cider jelly this morning. I'd made apple wine, which tasted like cider (yuk) and have been making cider gravy, cider sauce etc. since, so this was the latest experiment.

Anyway, I have found a pectinless recipe on the web but it's a real faff. Prepare, leave, boil, leave, boil again, bottle, boil (sigh) but at least it delays the bottling till I've found some bottles LOL.

Half the plums are now in a kilner jar in the oven - my first attempt at bottling, so I hope they turn out ok.

Good luck 2Cats - don;t know how you have the patience to do it all. I'd have lost my temper at the first hurdle I think.............lol

Mind you, patience did pay off in trying to get onto our local don'tdumpthat site..............first off I ended up on the site for an area (same county but miles away) but eventually got on to the local one only to find all previous posts have been deleted so stuff I'd put on wasn't there anymore ........wellm it is now............lol and when I last looked I was the only one who'd posted !!!
Lady on freecycle had been trying to give away a small wardrobe.......perfect for coats and mucky shoes for our newly plastered back room I thought. Well, tried to contact her through freecycle but yahoo for some reason just wouldn''t let me. So, I e mailed the lady direct (this was a couple of weeks ago)..........she re advertised it this afternoon, I contacted her again and she rang having lost my e mail from earlier.............so by the end of next week we'll have a little 1930's wardrobe ! Just need painting up a bit (hopefully by then we'll have painted the back room) ...........so, today hasn't been all negative.................lol:j
