they dont normally check to see that the numbers the same only if you paid by card that will refund by card -that the companys policy - crap that it is.

dont accept the vouchers if they happen to say the numbers are not the same - you have a receipt your entitlerd to a cash refund/card refund
  • In the past I have taken back the old card which was used to make purchase and the new one - it is fairly obvious that the old one has expired and most people would accept that if all other details are the same (bank name, customer name, sort code etc) the card is the replacement.
When I worked in retail I was happy to accept this and my manager agreed - maybe you'd need to see a superviser or manager though. Good luck!

    It's only a game

They tried the voucher thing in comet last year because i did not have a reciept, i only had a print of my online bank statment.
this was at 7:55pm i asked what time do you shut? 8 she said, not tonight you don't was my reply, so i sat my self down on the cs desk.
    at 8:05 i had a cash refund.
If was very funny but the wife was not happy

You'd only have a problem if it was different account rather than just a different card on the same account.

If they did it to a different account they wouldn't get the handling fee back from the card company.

Why is it crap? Why should they lose money just because you changed your mind about wanting something?

No - you are wrong. When refunding items we look at the type of card and the last 4 digits (all the other digits are X's)
If the customer claims that it is a new card then we ask for the new version of this card (e.g if the original was VISA then the new one has to be VISA) and the expiry date must be within reason. We do these things for legal reasons.

I bought quite a lot of goods on a particular credit card recently. I lost the card and had it cancelled and have received a replacement one. Obviously the last 4 digits will be different to that on my receipts. Am I likely to have problems if I need to return anything?
