Turning 18 credit check contract

Options
Hi there, so I am turning 18 on may 2nd and for 7 months I have been paying my iPhone 14 Pro contract in my moms name, but on my debit card with Lloyds Bank.

She will be transferring the contract to my name when I turn 18, I heard there was a credit check, do you think I will pass the credit check due to me making payments to Three for 7 months?

Will that go on my credit file?

Thank you very much.

That will be on your mums credit file as the contract is in her name. Your credit file will pretty much be a blank sheet at the moment.

You cannot transfer a mobile phone contract to another individual.

If the contract has exceeded the minimum term and is now on a rolling month basis, what will happen is that she can cancel her contract and you can take out a new contract in your name.  If the contract still has some time to run then it will remain in her name until the end of the term.  You will not receive any benefit from the fact that payments were made from your card as the contract is not in your name.

Some networks do allow the account holder to assign a contract to another person (EE & Three are known to do this) but you will need to pass a credit check for them to do it.
