B@Q guarantee period?

Hello,

I purchased some garden furniture from B@Q last may and it's developed a crack in the same place on all chairs. Do B@Q have a guarantee period? Am I within my rights to demand a replacement or atleast replacement parts?

Unless they came with a warranty/guarantee, no. After this long, the best thing to do is to ask B&Q. They may help, but they're entitled to ask you to have the chairs inspected. It does sound as if there's a fundamental flaw, given it's occurred on all of the chairs, so probably something worth pursuing. B&Q would be compelled to provide a partial refund, replacements or repairs. Their choice.

What do B&Q say about any guarantee.
Given it may well be different between any ranges they sell.

Yea that's the problem, I can't find anything relating to the guarantee.

Surely the fact the same fault has occured in the same place on all  chairs shows a design or batch problem. I would of thought within a year would be covered by some kind of consumer rights for this kind of thing. Obviously not by the sounds of it.

I know the manufacturer give a  2 year warranty but they are useless and never reply etc.

It is covered by consumer rights, but after this long that doesn’t mean you're entitled to an immediate resolution with no questions asked. B&Q may help immediately, but they're entitled to ask you to have them independently inspected. That's if you're exercising consumer rights. If you elect to go down the warranty route, your options will be whatever is described in the terms.

Better to better to be polite and ask rather than demand.

Or they've all suffered the same abuse, which is why they'll want to inspect the chairs.

Think of the cheap plastic chairs. They all tend to fail in the same place. (top of leg to join on body) But it is due to many factors.

Which type are yours, how have they been stored over winter?
