You can get the carer element of UC without claiming CA.
You cannot be paid CA element on UC if you are getting LCWRA yourself.
If you are working and earning then CA is excluding if the earnings are over £139/week.
There is no earnings limit excluding carer element in the calculation for UC.
If you receive CA the value of CA is deducted from UC so your total finance is the otherHowever CA gives Class 1 NI credits whereas UC gives Class 3 but if you are now excluded from CA due to your earnings you will be getting Class 1 contributions from work anyway.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.2
