How long Amazon have legally got to refund my money

I bought a very expensive IT item for circa 5.5k on Amazon. It was delivered on 21 February. On the 5th March I have notified Amazon I want to return it. It was collected by Amazonm's arranged couriers Arrow XL on the 9th March.
Since then I've been chasing Amazon for my money. Initialy they were telling me 14 days. Now they are teling me 30 days!
The Arrow XL tracking is showing as below:

11-Mar 08:40 Despatched To Client Return Site
10-Mar 07:40 Despatched To Client Return Site
09-Mar 13:57 Collection Success
09-Mar 10:23 Out For Collection

Is it a time for me to do anything about it? I though the retailer got 14 days to refund after receiving the item back? As the couriers were arranged by Amazon, would it not count Amazon received the item on the 11th?

Have Amazon confirmed that they have received the item?

It should be within 14 days of them receiving the item back.
What do you mean by time to do something about it? What did you have in mind?
Did you buy directly from amazon or from a third party seller?

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

No. Where do I stand legally if the courier loses the item. If it was Amazon who arranged the courier. Can I claim that the item was with Amazon at the time their arranged courier (so their representative?) collected the item?

Third party seller, fullfileld by Amazon. By doing something else I mean initiating chargeback or Section 75 claim with the credit card.

Looks like the item has got lost in transit.
  • Assuming that The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (legislation.gov.uk) applies, and that you cancelled the contrcat under those regs, then under reg 34(5) you should get your refund no later than 14 days after either (a) the retailer receives the goods back, or (b) you have provided evidence to the retailer that you have sent the goods back to them.

So after you provide evidence of sending the goods back, the retailer has 14 days to refund you.

If the goods have gone "missing" (or whatever) after being collected by the courier, it's the seller's problem to sort out with the courier, not yours.

s34(5) If the contract is a sales contract and the trader has not offered to collect the goods, the time is the end of 14 days after—

    (a) the day on which the trader receives the goods back, or

    (b) if earlier, the day on which the consumer supplies evidence of having sent the goods back

As I said, all that assume you cancelled under the CCRs...
