Temporary jobs

I asked about working in the UK previously and the reason for your job ending because this could affect your eligibility for JSA.Ybe said:
Yes, I failed probation due to mass redundancies.General_Grant said:
Have you worked in the UK? If so, what happened to end your last job?Ybe said:Can you also claim job seekers allowance in this scenario? I already have a signed contract with my new employer but it is subject to completion of vetting.
It would appear you could begin a claim for JSA and, although you have a job offer, you would still need to show that you were continuing your job search. This is because job offers can be withdrawn and there is a possibility of not moving into it and it is job seekers allowance.1 -
What kind of job is it that the vetting takes 2-6 months? Basic SC usually takes around six weeks, DV takes quite a bit longer, but one would normally be in an employed role before and stay in that role waiting for the DV to complete. Vetting in the private sector is usually weeks at most. Do they offer interim positions pending completion of vetting?Ybe said:Is there such a thing as a short term temporary/part time job which I can quit easily to support my income whilst vetting is being processed for a permanent job? I have no idea how long it will take - I’ve just been told anywhere from 2-6 months. If so, what kind of work do I need to look for and where?
Where I am there are plenty of jobs in supermarkets, pubs, bars and restaurants etc. and temporary office jobs as well, they don't pay hugely above minimum wage, mostly around £12 an hour, but they would cover something in the interim if you do not have the skills to get into a higher paid temporary job (eg. professional qualifications, specific skills etc.).
