Temporary jobs

Is there such a thing as a short term temporary/part time job which I can quit easily to support my income whilst vetting is being processed for a permanent job?  I have no idea how long it will take - I’ve just been told anywhere from 2-6 months. If so, what kind of work do I need to look for and where?

As we don't know what area you are in how can anyone recommend a local agency?

google is your friend...plenty of results e.g. https://uk.indeed.com/jobs?q=Short+Term+Temporary&from=mobRdr&utm_source=/m/&utm_medium=redir&utm_campaign=dt&vjk=e7517d942f358037
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Can you also claim job seekers allowance in this scenario? I already have a signed contract with my new employer but it is subject to completion of vetting.

Have you worked in the UK?  If so, what happened to end your last job?

Nor do we know what sort of work you want.

At opposite ends of my road are 2: one does warehouse / catering / what I'd call blue collar jobs. The other does office / managerial jobs. My manager's speaking to at least 3 local agencies for a particular specialism. The University and the hospital each have agency relationships. And so on.

Yes, I failed probation due to mass redundancies.
