Ebay taking a fee for postage!!!

Well, this is outrageous. I have looked at my account (after some searching as they keep throwing up the horrible seller hub I keep opting out of only to be thrust upon me on my next visit) and not only do they charge a fee for selling and final value, but also postage!!!!!!This is unbelievable as the postage is NOT making me any proffit. Ebay are just making it less and less appealing to sell all the time. I shall just have to add extra on my postage from now on to cover my costs.

This isn't new. eBay have been taking their cut of the P&P fees for a while now, I believe it was to try to prevent sellers charging a small amount for the item, then adding a huge amount for postage to get around the fees. Or maybe otherwise, but it's been a few years now since they started taking their cut.

You could always offer free P&P and add the postage costs + eBay's cut to the price of your items. Apparently buyers like free P&P!

What do you mean, you are paying a fee for selling AND FVFs? Are you paying to list items?

Ebay have been charging fees on postage for a few years now.

Came about apparently because sellers were listing items low cost and making up the difference with high postal charges which were not charged fees on at the time.

Amazing, considering how long you have been using Ebay that you have no clue how much it is costing in Ebay fees. Even Ebay show you how much they take from each sale if you look at the bottom of each "view order details" under the heading "What you earned"

The final value fee is £2.81 as the listing was free.

Fees are a % + fixed amount per transaction.  Something like 12.8%+30p for most categories; that 25p + VAT = 30p.

It’s been about 12 years or more then eBay have been charging FVFs on postage, most of the time you have been selling hubb.

I think it was about 10 years ago. I recently compiled a spreadsheet of my total sales since 2009 (don't ask why) and as I got as far back as 2012 I thought "wow I really used to give stuff away cheap!" then I realised that the postage was £10 for most items, and I think 2nd class "standard parcels" back then was about £2.20?

Yeah I can remember those days. £1 for the item and 6.99 postage when the delivery was less than a pound.
