Debt Recovery Plus -- Making reduced offer

abc.xyz

I have two parking "fines" from last summer, which were given to Debt Recovery Plus.
One for not paying (was past midnight -- didn't see the machine/a requirement to pay) and another for parking within two bays. I accept responsibility and want to get them cleared as it's not worth the stress, but I'm also not willing to pay the extortionate £160 & £145 they're demanding.
Has anyone ever had any success in offering to settle the "fines" for a reduced sum? If so, what's a reasonable amount to offer?
If not, shall I just play bluff and continue to ignore their letters until (if) I ever get a court letter and just pay in full then?

You take no notice of DRP, they are just sewer living critters who can do nothing ........ minus nothing. Just ANOTHER money scammer approved by the BPA
Who is the parking company ?
DRP cannot instruct a legal to proceed, nor can they take you to court. We know all about the waffle letters from DRP

I'm just worried about missing a court letter and ending up with a CCJ, ruining my credit, but DRP cannot take it to small claims court?0 -
I'm just worried about missing a court letter and ending up with a CCJ, ruining my credit, but DRP cannot take it to small claims court?DRP can't issue a court claim. The charges will need to be returned to their respective PPCs who will need to instruct solicitors to act for them. Some way off.If you move address at any time in the next 6 years, you must inform both PPCs of you new address if there are outstanding PCNs. Failure to do so significantly increases the risk of a court claim going to a former address, being missed with an ensuing court judgment in default. That's the most common root of CCJs.Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

The added 'fee' is DRP's extortionate profit and they bully people on the phone (read their Trustpilot reviews).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

As you've made an effort to post on here, then you must be aware that we NEVER tell you to pay these scammers. If you pay them anything, you are a part of the problem and just another mug who is funding their scam. You can guarantee, once you've paid them anything or begged to pay in part, you are marked by them as a mug for future squeezing.I accept responsibility and want to get them cleared as it's not worth the stress, but I'm also not willing to pay the extortionate £160 & £145 they're demanding.Make your mind up. You are either willing to pay and be a part of their scam or you're not. Which is it?
Have you read, re-read and read again the Newbies/FAQ thread near the top of the forum which explains what to do and when and what you can expect in this process?
If these were tickets from last year, then you are way past any appeal stage and you wait for an LoC. Have you moved or changed your address since you received the tickets?
Please stop calling them "fines". Count the number of times that the word "fine" appears on any of the correspondence and report back with your answer.4 -
Thank you all for your advice. I presumed the "debt" had been sold to DRP. I have not moved address, and don't plan to, but will keep in mind. I will continue to ignore, unless I receive court correspondence from the original parking companies2

I look upon DRP and the other creeps like Desperate Dan, you know from the old comics ........ DESPERATE DAN AND HIS SCAM PIE
The mind boggles that government lets these Leeches operate and scam people out of their money6 -
"If you pay them anything, you are a part of the problem and just another mug who is funding their scam."And a very profitable scam it is too:-"Steve Gooding, director of the RAC Foundation, said:“If only the rest of the economy was booming like the private parking sector, perhaps we’d all be feeling more prosperous.“Private parking looks set to be a billion pound-a-year business, if it isn’t already, with demands for up to £100 a time being sent out to drivers at the rate of more than one every three seconds."8
