Just wondering if anyone has one of these and what they recommend?
I'm aware of the pitfalls of one of these ie: they stop being effective once the humidity is high, but equally, a fan would also be ineffective so in the grand scheme of things not a massive deal
Does anyone have any recommendations on what to buy?

Once your partner can get their head around them not being air-con and simply lowering the temperature by a few degrees to a more comfortable point, and not give an artic blast they are reasonable for the money and the energy use in my opinion.
We have two of these https://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/ac60e/ac60e-air-cooler and they are light enough we can easily pop them into the loft with a bin bag over for the rest of the year.
We also bought extra ice packs from elsewhere so that we can use them for longer.0 -

They work to a point. My partner likes one on in the height of Summer, but I find it very noisy. I'd rather we had a proper split AC system. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Well - it is an integrated unit of plastic and a fan, rather than a heath-robinson tub of water in front of a fan.

Then, get a very small ASHP for those two radiators and maybe a Vailant Arastor. Imo, I'd need to upgrade my piping anyway, and cooling is also good especially when I can get that partially via solar0
