Octopus say they can’t read my SMETS2 meter

I'm nervous about declaring a conclusion but I had an email from Octopus today asking me to try again as they think they have resolved the issues. Sure enough, I can see gas consumption on the website and app and they have unscrambled the mixed up import/export data.
The gas meter and comms hub are less than a metre apart, so that's never been an issue for me.
