Purple Bricks . Putting a note of interest for a house via website

We live in Scotland.  We have viewed a house being sold via Purple Bricks, we have viewed it twice now.  We have placed a note of interest via their website yesterday, as as advised by tPB and were advised by them yesterday that we would be advised of closing dates etc to allow us to make an offer. I asked three times if we would be informed of a closing date and was assured that we would be made aware of this.  We are aware of another person who has also registered a note of interest in the same property.
Less than 24 hours later, we discover via Rightmove that the property has been sold to another party yet PB made no attempt to contact myself or the other interested party to advise us of this. to allow us to offer.   Is this how PB operates?

Why didn't you make an offer if you were interested? Or arrange another viewing?

This is Scotland - the house buying process is WAY different to England/Wales.housebuyer143 said:

I don't know whether that's typical for PB, but bear in mind that (unlike solicitors when they're marketing properties), there are no professional rules requiring estate agents to respect any sort of protocol about closing dates.

In Scotland a note of interest and /or offer must be done through a solicitor.

Did you instruct a solicitor to lodge the note of interest?

Pb are a pain in the .....
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Our local solicitors property centre still has most of the market here. Last time we were looking I reached a point where I wouldn't look at anything that wasn't advertised there. While people moan about solicitors having a monopoly, the lack of transparency through the newer agencies wound me up so much I simply gave up on them.

The way to notify an interest is from your solicitor to their solicitor. They then have an obligation to keep you informed.

As @shreamber says, when you want to put in a note of interest this should be done via your solicitor who then sends it to the vendor's solicitor.  You don't do it yourself so it sounds as if you never officially put in a note of interest.  Even if you had there's nothing stopping the vendor from accepting someone else's offer nor is the vendor required to take matter to a closing date just because one or more people have put in a note of interest.  Has your solicitor not explained the property buying process to you at all?
