Letting agent querie

Options
Hi everybody. Don't know if this question will be allowed but here goes.
Does anyone have experience of dealing with Countrywide letting agencies.
My daughter is being treated extremely badly by them at the moment and I would be interested to know whether this is the norm for them or just peculiar to this particular branch.
Thanks in anticipation.

In my experience, i have to say, anything with countrywide in the name is best avoided.
  • Last time I was looking to rent we looked at a number of properties with Countrywide (SW London). Without exception they were some of the nastiest properties I have EVER seen and the agents were by far the most clueless.

They tried to rent us one property where a caveat was included to say that the owner of the property could store her stuff in one of the bedrooms, which was to be kept locked but she could some round at any time she wanted to view her stuff and 'use' the room. When we found out this meant that she wanted to stay overnight in the room on occasion we beat a hasty retreat ...

  • Thanks guys. The house my daughter obtained thro' them was a nice property apart from lacking double glazing and central heating which I think should be a must in all rental property. At the time she was splitting from her partner and wanted to leave asap so took it alth'o overpriced as well.
The problem is getting the deposit of £800 back.Small amount of damage done by cats...so she replaced carpet redecorated one bedroom and new curtains in the main bedroom.Everything left perfect order.
LL & LA were highly delighted with property and said no problem about deposit return. Her tenancy ended 21st Nov..she gave keys back 8th Nov as she had bought a property and had moved into it...so they 12 days rent..for nothing. We've been waiting since then for the cheque...they use all excuses and lies but cheque never comes.
They are a crowd of crooks...feels like she's been mugged.Ruined Xmas for us...I could do something very nasty to them.Glad to know what some other people think of them! Heartening.

If she is still local go round to their office and sit there until she gets her money back, tell everyone who comes in why she is there. They will ge fed up with her eventually. They cannot avoid her like they do on the phone
