Right. We have had to move into a hotel (the idea is it gives us flexibility not being tied to a fixed term). We have given up on the house where there is a 3rd party laying claim on the estate, it looks to me multiple issues - we never did find what the issue(s) are.
So our current tenancy came to an end so we are now in a hotel. just before we moved out I agreed to use a friends house as a deposit for forwarded mail. We have found another property and had the offer accepted. All seems great so far.
Mortgage adristor phoned up yesterday saying the application was declined and referred to the credit file. Strange as we have both been careful money wise and checking on clearscore my credit rating is fine - quite a bit above the uk average.
The only thing I can think is just after moving, being responsible, I updated my bank details using the forwarding address as my home address as I thought it would be better than the hotel.
The broker did advise to sign up to checkmyfile multiple agency credit report check which came back saying there is a problem - I have to wait for a 1st class letter with an access code. They also suggested transunion that came back with no issues that I saw. I can only assume it is the blinking address update on the bank!
Would this totally throw a spanner in the works? Has anyone been in this situation?

Quite possibly address change.
You also almost certainly did not have to move out from tenancy. Thatcher's (!) 1988 housing act makes clear that at end of tenancy fixed term , if tenant remains (their absolute legal right ) then tenancy continues, as before "periodic" -usually monthly. Even if landlord has served a valid notice.
Amazing how many agents and landlords appear unaware of this.

Had a note on the plus side. The broker has called me to say they have found an alternative lender who has given a mortgage in principle - I didn't ask but I assume it has passed their checks. i was advised to call the HMRC 0300 200 3300 and get a TAX Code notice and an updated bank statement sent out to our concordance address. I'm assuming this is something that carries sway with my name and address. Looks like were all go!
