Get some sense into me - how long it took you to buy a house as a FTB

Just looking for experiences of others - how long it took you to buy your first house? ***from the point the offer is accepted***
Our situation - FTB (no chain) buying a probate house (no onward chain) 4 months and counting due to probate not being granted.
Wondering how long is the average process in general?

It takes as long as it takes.
In some cases probate is taking over 9 monthsIf you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales1 -
In Scotland 4 weeks, in England with probate? Who knows, 6 months, a year?0

It takes in weeks how long a piece of string is in inches. So, how long is a piece of string?1

Ours was complicated and no probate involved. Then again we weren't FTBs.
We offered and were accepted on 30th July and had offers on our 2 places a week or so later. 1 offer lasted throughout but the other failed twice (buyer pulled out) and then because of that we had to pull our offer as they wanted a quick sale. We found another place and offered and accepted early October. 3rd offer on our other property was received but the buyer kept niggling about all sorts. Eventually we were able to satisfy everything and actually moved in February. So over 6 months in total.
fyi - the seller of the first place we offered on was still trying to sell 18 months later.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. It took longer than it possibly should given I was FTB, the seller had already moved out, and I didn't really query anything... put it that way!

Do you know if Probate has been submitted to office, or still being prepared?1
-
My first (and second) took around 6 months and they were seemingly straightforward (no chain on either side both times)0

Let's be honest, what you're really looking for is someone to say "Yeah that's too long", even though said someone doesn't know the background of the transaction, and likely little to no knowledge of the conveyancing process in general
No two transactions are the same. Just because someone's took 4 weeks, doesn't mean yours also should take 4 weeks. It takes a long as it takes.
