CCJ affecting my credit score

Hello
I recently applied for finances on a new purchase and was rejected at first. I checked my credit report and found out I have a CCJ from 2021 from a private parking ticket. I didn't acknowledge any letters, but at some point I moved out and forgot about it. The CCJ was issued in 2021 and I was living somewhere else by then, so I never found out about this. It is affecting my credit score so ideally I would like to remove it.
I was not aware that private car parks can take you to court without you stating you were the driver of the vehicle. I always pay for parking, but I think I got a bit later or I exceed the courtesy period at the car park.
My mistake, but based on this do you think I can appeal it? What is your advice?

Visit the motoring board to see what options you have, if any.
It doesn't matter if it's affecting your score - it's the CCJ itself which is the issue.0 -
I meant to appeal the CCJ not the ticket. I guess the CCJ is the one affecting my score.0

See post 2. Visit the motoring boards for options. And again, the score isn't a problem. It's the CCJ.1

On what grounds would your appeal be based?
Your score is a fictitious number that lenders don't even see: what matters is your credit history-which is why the CCJ matters. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Seems be a common misconception that private parking firms can't take you to court.
They can and will0 -

They can and willafter they outlaws clamping they gave private parking companies more power to persue these fines in court. which is fair imho.Everyone seems to be going on old information. I know someone who has absolutely horribble finances still parroting "just ignore tickets".Yes many parking firms might not bother, but many others will. They may bave been lucky by ignoring tickets with some companies but others will take a harder line.0 -
Hi, I definitely echo what MorningcoffeeIV has said above, do visit the motoring board, specifically -

Coupon-mad and KeithP are two of them. Do pop over and have a look and good luck to you. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. There was and still is a lot of bad advice about dealing with these things, the don't pay and protest gang have caused many people to end up with trashed reports.... as previously stated the motoring board will know better about appeals, but a CCJ from 2 years ago is unlikely to be removed, it will affect you for another 4 years before it drops off your file. Ignore silly scores it is your history that matters.Old enough to know better...........0
