https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/environmental-improvement-plan/environmental-improvement-plan-2023-executive-summary#improving-environmental-qualityIt might not be worth throwing more money at the problem, in view of the government’s new Environmental Improvement Plan which is aiming to reduce air pollution by restricting the use of log burners. As I said stop reading the Daily Mail. They aren't going to tell you that your woodburner needs to be turned off, which is what you are inferring.

The stove came with the house (previous owner left it there as they never got round to installing it) and they said it was a 12kw but maybe this isn't the case! I'll do a bit of digging - thanks!0 -
The Guardian (06 Feb 2023):
"The Committee on Climate Change, the statutory adviser on greenhouse gas emissions, has called for domestic wood burning stoves to be phased out."
The Guardian (31 Jan 2023):
"There will be tighter regulation of new wood burners, which in designated “smoke control areas” will be allowed to pour out no more than 3g of smoke per hour, instead of 5g at present" [Thérèse Coffey (Environment Sec.)] "said she wanted to “avoid fingerpointing” by cracking down on existing stove users."

Quotes from the Guardian won't change the legislation or what will happen to those with wood burners.
My point is, don't worry the OP. ABSOLUTELY NOTHNG is going to happen to his woodburner OTHER than the helpful posters here will get it working properly.

I'll do a bit of digging - thanks! If the stove was installed compliant with Building Regulations & HETAS guidance, there should also be a plate either close to the stove or adjacent to the consumer unit (fuse box). This will say what the make/model of the stove is, who installed it, and also the diameter of the flue. But if the stove was installed before 2005 (I believe), no notice plate or Building Regs sign-off was required. As for the other (unused) flue, a chimney sheep or balloon will plug the hole and stop all the warm air disappearing.
Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
That wood stack would only be a 4 - 6 day supply to heat the house, 4 per her, 2hrs morning 3hrs evening. Yellow flame is safe on a bunson burner you need blue.

Any 'make' embossed on it - often part of the door casting?
And, if it isn't clear in the main pic, close-ups of the air vent controls - all of them0
