does anyone know the wait time for this benefit at the moment? i have heard up to 18 weeks, its for my father that is currently on pension credit but also told to apply for this.

claim form sent off around  weeks ago now, got notification they received it but nothing since.

if it makes any difference this is for northern ireland

At the moment it seems to be around 9-10 weeks. A few weeks ago claims were taking up to 12 weeks. I assist people with these claims and have to follow up the outcome all the time so I generally have a good idea of how long they are taking. If you sent in medical evidence with the form and they don't need to contact Gp or anything, then that generally speeds things up or if it's obvious form the medical evidence that the person has difficulties, then a decision tends to be made more quickly. The odd claims takes much longer than 12 weeks if they have got to chase GP's etc for information, but not often that it takes that long. the money is all backdated to the day you rang up for the form, if awarded. Sorry I just saw you are in NI afte typing this, no idea if timescales are different there.

It took mine 10 weeks in June last year.  I got 10 weeks payment in my bank account about 2 weeks before receiving the letter
