First Direct and Apple pay

Has anyone holding a First Direct account experienced any issued with their card and apple pay? I've recently got a new card, added it to apple pay without any issues and was able to use if for a few week. Paid for petrol one day, then a few hrs later got a notification saying the card was unavailable in my Apple wallet. Removed and tried to re-add it, no joy.
First direct were unable to give me an exact reason why, only after they asked me to try adding it again and it not working was a I told "We're unable to give you access to apple pay on your card. We monitor account use and spending habits to make this assessment"
Anyone else had this issue?

No I use Apple Pay for practically all day to day spending, but on a First Direct credit card not a debit card and never had any issues.
maybe There is something that has been flagged to them if they monitor your account conduct and spending levels which would trigger some sort of concern?0 -
Yeah I think that is what they were implying... But I've not changed any spending habits etc since opening the account almost 4 years ago so confusing me a little.Rich1976 said:No I use Apple Pay for practically all day to day spending, but on a First Direct credit card not a debit card and never had any issues.

Perhaps worth going back to them and asking if they could clarify why they’ve taken that decision as seems a vague generic response though sometimes if the information is quite sensitive then banks don’t always disclose their decisionsDeleted_User said:

Vote with your feet if they can’t / won’t reinstate your ApplePay functionality.0

I think FirstDirect are having a few issues.
I've just tried to purchase premium bonds and each time the transaction has been declined. Their chat says it is a system issue.0 -
Spent almost 40 mins on the phone trying to get it sorted out, still nothing. It's the convenience thing for me more than anything, I don't like carrying a wallet/physical card!0

Can you open a second First Direct current account and use that instead?0

40 mins on the phone to (not) get something as simple as ApplePay sorted - definitely does not sound convenient!Deleted_User said:Spent almost 40 mins on the phone trying to get it sorted out, still nothing. Open a Chase account, that works with ApplePay before they even send you the physical card (which they do within days). You also get 1% cashback an most purchases.
Lots of other current account options, too - none with reports of trouble with ApplePay. Several will also pay you if you switch your FD account - Halifax is usually a good one - though you might not want to give up your FD account, as it is great for access to their Regular Saver.

Just watch out, as despite saying declined. They still place a authorisation. 👍Life in the slow lane0
