Insurance renewal when partner (potential named driver) has made a claim on her policy

Hi folks, looking for some advice/sense check on a specific situation. We currently have 2 car insurance policies with Elephant  for 2 cars. Partner had an at fault accident in car 2 (thankfully noone else involved, claim all sorted) for which she is the policyholder and I'm a named driver and I currently am policyholder for car 1 on which she is a named driver.

Currently re-procuring both policies and while it's clear for car 2 the accident would be declared as she is the policyholder, for car 1 I want to check my understanding on whether I need to declare the claim a) if partner is named driver b) if she isn't. At the time I asked Elephant whether I would need to declare this claim on my policies going forwards and they confirmed that I didn't need to declare as i wasn't the policyholder (or involved in the incident) but I note that using the MSE car compare plus tool, the 'have you had any accidents/claims' help tooltip says "This includes claims made by a named driver on your policy, regardless as to whether this person remains on your policy or not" and I think the wording is a bit unclear as to whether it means there was a claim on your policy (nope) or a named driver who is going to be on this policy has made a claim on another policy (yes).

I'm going to take the starting point that I don't need to declare it for car 1 for either a) or b) but do you agree?

You need to declare any accidents that a named driver has had, as obviously a named driver with an accident history is more of a risk than a named driver who has not had an accident, and the insurer would very much like to correctly address the risk by quoting the correct premium.

If the insurer doesn't ask "have you, or any named drivers.........?" then they are foolish, and I can't believe that any competent insurer wouldn't ask now.

The wording is actually referring to having to declare a claim made under your policy by a named driver, who you remove in an attempt to reduce the policy cost by not declaring the claim- Some drivers claim "I haven't had an accident" but they have made a claim, it was someone else driving at the time.

Insurers as for claims history at a driver level

Given she is the PH on the other vehicle then its simple... you include her then include her claim under her history. If you remove her from being a named driver then you dont have to declare it.

Things get more complex when you are the PH and a ND has an accident in your vehicle but that isnt the case here so no need to go into that rabbit hole

mY insurance specifically asks about any claims by the named driver when completing the section for their details.

You need to answer all questions truthfully.
