What if united utilities can't find an out side tap for my water supply,I have a dripping leak under my kitchen sink and my plumber says he needs an outside tap before he can do anything

Then you have a problem, it should be in the pavement or maybe your drive0

Do you mean you need to locate the stopcock (the last bit of that word will probably be replaced with asterisks ☹️).
Update - ooh, it wasn't replaced. That's progress!0 -
Hi Tiny. Plumbers usually have other means at their disposal, such as freezing pipes while they carry out a repair. Where's this leak coming from - is it from the internal stopcock? If not, why can't they shut that one off?
Assuming, therefore, it is, and it's the stopcock itself that needs replacing, then I guess it's a freeze job - unless access to the pipe below it is very restricted?
Once this fuss is over, then find out where your street one is! Where do neighb's have theirs, for example? Draw a line from your kitchen to the most obvious position on the road or pavement - if you really cannot find the street !!!!!!, then you may need to start digging.
If someone turns up with divining rods, then suggest they coat them with vaseline. If they ask why, you show them.1 -
You can write stopcock but not stop !!!!!!. ;-)The_Unready said:Do you mean you need to locate the stopcock (the last bit of that word will probably be replaced with asterisks ☹️).

I presume you don't have a water meter because that's where mine is. If you don't ask your water company to fit one0
