Putting cash in bank.

My dad has a fair bit of cash, that he kept indoors.
Now decided to put it in his bank, how much cash in a month can he put in without him risking a frozen account?

why do you / does he think his account might get frozen?0

The most I have put in was £6000 at RBS/Natwest and that was in a cash machine at the branch inside. There was no counter. it required multiple deposits. All cleared no questions asked.0

Frankly I think a one off large deposit done in person with a chat to the people working there is less of a risk than depositing £400 by ATM every few days. But it will depend on how suspicious the people/IT working for the bank are. My local branch wouldn't accept a cheque from my mom made out to me & OH with just my OH's surname even though it was going into a joint account. (think A Smith & B Jones account with a cheque to A & B Jones.) A different branch were completely happy with it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Not rhetorical whatsoever.grumbler said:Band7 said:why do you / does he think his account might get frozen? Is this a rhetoric question?- Because of of the AML paranoia epidemic?
Just trying to find out more about the OP's / their dad's intention. Seems I am far less trusting about random Internet posters than you appear to be.0 -
OP, if your father has a good explanation for the origins of the cash, he has nothing to fear.

Well, we know stories about innocent people's accounts frozen. It's not our business to investigate how true the stories were.Band7 said:

And there was a post recently about an account frozen exactly after making multiple ATM deposits. IIRC, the OP sold some dog.Deleted_User said:The most I have put in was £6000 at RBS/Natwest and that was in a cash machine at the branch inside. There was no counter. it required multiple deposits. OK, when asking the 'rhetoric' question did you really expect to get an honest answer if the origin of money is, say, questionable? The intention was to deposit a big(gish) amount of cash. Many elderly people have a habit of saving big amounts at home over a long time. It was a norm several decades ago.Band7 said:

If you use the cashier and not the machine it should be ok. You can explain to the person serving you where the money has come from.
Come on you Irons0
