Smart Meter Extenders
Siemens (9
on behalf of Bulb) tried to
install Smsrt Meters on my gas and electricity meters. Fitting to the electricity was successful. Fitting to the gas meter was not successful probably due to thick walls or distance between gas and electricity meters. So I do not have a Smart Meter on gas. Does anyone know of a signal extender which could cause a Smart Meter on gas to communicate with the Smart Meter on electricity as it is from the Smart Meter connected to electricity that readings from both are sent to the energy supplier?

The gas meter uses the HAN to connect to the gas proxy meter built into the communications hub. There is also an Alt-HAN solution for high-rise apartments2 -
There are external to cabinet antenna arrangements for the WAN connection. Even external weather hardened solutions in many countries for roof or wall mounting in rural areas.
More common overseas, but seen a couple of posts here for people having antenna in local roof space or external to metal meter boxes etc.
But that doesn't apply to gas as I understand it - as they are HAN slaved to electric, electric reports to DCC on WAN.
So down to DCC improving ranges etc.
And in next decade - likely all electric will need their 4G WAN upgrades too. 2g3g switch off target currently capped as at least meter service if not our mobils guaranteed to 2033.0 -
I have two business supplies which have hardwired transmitters/battery packs for the gas. They operate completely separate from the electric meter .Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
