Thinking of buying a new SMART TV.
What manufacture supports and updates their TV's for the longest. Any ideas - or hints.?

Depends on your definition of "support" and "update".They all go out of date smart wise eventually.0

Personally, I'd buy the best TV I can ignoring Smart features for my budget less £50 and then buy an external device for the smarts. Even when brand new both my Samsung and LG TVs Smart features didn't work half as well as either our Amazon Firestick or AppleTV.2 -
As well as being SMART, what connectivity do you want it to have?Lots of HDMI ports, USB, Ethernet, Satellite as well as an aerial input?Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid0

Our 2018 (?) Hisense TV works perfectly but won't update ITV player to ITX-X so no catch up ITV on it!

I've got a 55" Samsung TV MU620 from 2017. It still has all the smart TV apps that I want, including ITVX, iPlayer, All4, Channel 5 player etc.

Our 4k LG C OLED TV still has all the apps but showing a 4k Atmos Doby Vision show takes 2-3 seconds to start and will buffer once or twice during a movie. Play the same video on AppleTV or Amazon Firestick and it starts instantly and never buffers.
Not talking night and day difference but a little disappointing given the Amazon stick was under £30 in the sales at the same time the TV was over £2,000.0 -
Just use an Amazon Firestick and be done with it
Remember the fad for including DVD players inside TVs - it stopped for a good reason !
Same thing applies to Smart TVs0 -
It's not so much about the TV support by the manufacturer but support from the Apps. Sometimes companies like Netflix decide not to support older TV's,
Best to buy a quality brand which will be supported longer and then, if any apps in the future are not supported you can use a Roku stick or similar to boost the smart for longer.
I've always found that Samsung does regular updates for quiet a few years.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Concentrate on picture quality and get an external box for the applications. I don't think that I've ever used any of the applications on my TV. On the other hand, I have every application I need on a external Android box. Which I can continue to update with the latest versions as and when.
Though this isn't my model, this is an example: https://www.mi.com/uk/product/mi-box-s/
