Table lamp earth

Hi. I'm rewiring an old table lamp, all metal, that's from probably the 1940's.
It currently isn't earthed, and obviously I want to earth it.
I can't change the lampholder. (It's complicated) but I can easily run the earth from the cable to the inside of the body of the lamp where there are various existing screws I can use to attach it. Will this be sufficient, or do I need to try and earth the actual bulb holder itself. If so how do I go about that.
Changing the bulb holder is REALLY not an option.

If it's all metal, then it shouldn't really matter where you connect the earth to. But it's a good idea to check with a multimeter on its continuity setting, to see if all the bits of metal are actually connected to each other.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1 -
That makes sense. Thank you.0
