Contract changed after signing

I agreed for a contractor to work on my drive and he gave a price and i signed the contract (he did not ) The next day he informed me he had made a mistake and forgot to add the cost of the edging another £3000 I was very unhappy and now do not want to go ahead with the contract because for all his apologies i felt very uneasy about this. My question is can he hold me to a contract where he has changed the price of that contract. I am assuming it voids the contract as he has changed the terms hopefully someone can advise me. Many Thanks

What did he say when you advised him you no longer wanted to go ahead with the contract due to this error?A contract does not need to be signed to be binding.

In short, if you agreed the work at X price and he has changed the price to Y then no he can't hold you to completing the work at the new price.Mickyblueeyes69 said:I agreed for a contractor to work on my drive and he gave a price and i signed the contract (he did not ) The next day he informed me he had made a mistake and forgot to add the cost of the edging another £3000 I was very unhappy and now do not want to go ahead with the contract because for all his apologies i felt very uneasy about this. Simply tell him that you no longer want the work carried out due to the change in price. If he wants to take it any further he'd have to take you to court - which he won't.0 -
Changes need to be expressly agreed.
Depending upon how the contract was formed you may have the right to cancel anyway, can you detail what happened, did he visit, quote and you accepted whilst he was there or did you accept after he had left or was this done another way without a visit? In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0
