Just a tip if you like extra mature cheddar

I think we MSE'ers often overlook Waitrose, but it is my nearest supermarket and they do have one or two bargains in their 'Essentials' range. They have been promoting the fact that they have reduced the price of 100s of these products. One such is the Essentials Extra Mature Cheddar.
New price £4.75 for 750g (£6.34/kg). It has over 800 reviews/ratings at an average of 4.8 out of 5, only 7 of them give 1* and two of those are mistakes.
It's rather nice.

I love Asda essentials cheddar at £5.33 a kilo. So personally I wouldn’t pay an extra pound a kilo for Waitrose.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Thanks dealyboy. We eat a lot of cheese in our house, so I'm forever buying big blocks of extra mature cheddar. I've found that marks' do a very good one, just about the same price too.
I think sometimes it's easy to write off some supermarkets as too dear/posh, but there can still be bargains in there. Value for money rather than just flat out cheapest. Before crowbars were invented, crows just drank at home.2 -

... yes I do like that cheese especially in cheese and onion sandwiches.
I used to buy the extra mature at Asda ... as in this one ...

crumbly with a hearty after taste ... until I became lazy, or should I say Iazier.
Actually I find cheese so addictive, which is not good, so I've had to add it to the list ...
cigarettes, whisky, wild wild women, extra mature cheddar4 -

They’re £5 but not a kilo. I’ll take a pic. Lake District is 830g, West Country is 750g, smallest one is 550g. All good but the Marks ones are worth the extra money. They’re creamier without sacrificing the strength. Yummy. Before crowbars were invented, crows just drank at home.4

I think the little one was £3.50 (?) Can't remember now. I liked to keep a good stash of cheese in so it's OOD before I get to it. Makes it even yummierBefore crowbars were invented, crows just drank at home.0

Ooh you have to get a good backlog going!
I'm not going to admit that those 3 are just the mature cheddars. I also have little 'flavoured' ones (stilton+apricot etc), parmesan for cooking, smoked ones for eating chunks of just because. I'm also not going to admit I have a whole shelf in my fridge just for cheese...Before crowbars were invented, crows just drank at home.2 -
