Capital 1 - 3 months or 2.5?

My 3 month bonus period is ending rather short. Capital one start it from when they open the account, which in my case was at least 12 days before I received the card, activated it, and made my first purchase. So, IMO, they are not honouring the terms of the offer. At the time I had big bill coming up so I was very annoyed the card took so long to arrive. Hence I am really sure of my dates, not that there is any doubt.

I'm awaiting a response from capital one from my second email after the first bush off one. A 3mth bonus period should be 3mth from when you receive the card, else it has not run 3 mths.

It's been posted about/complained about previously (several times). I can't remember what the general outcome of cardholders' complaints was, but since the T&C's state...
    Rebates
You will be enrolled in the Capital One rebate programme. You will receive a rebate of 4% on all purchases you make using your card that are applied to your account within the first three months of your account opening date
...I don't think you have much cause for complaint.

At the end of the day, there is bound to be some delay in manufacturing and delivering the card to you...especially when you consider that this particular product was massively oversubscribed when launched (and has also been since, judging by the number of people complaining of being rejected).

Not defending Capital One, just being a realist. :)

It's a case of when the delay gets to be unreasonable. A few days is acceptable. Open the account, post the card, arrives next day or so. But in this case it is almost 1/2 a month, about 15% less than offered. IMO that is significant short-changing.

Same problem here. My first use was 28-9-07 and the last which qualified for the 4% cashback was 14-12-07.

Oh well, £173.23 cashback instead of £129.93 (1% on my Egg Money card) - and the alleged (thankfully not had need to test yet) reassurance of I.D. theft assistance being available if I need it.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Others have reported their 4% cashback lasting three complete statement periods plus the first part month - and therefore over 3 months in any case. Can confirm this was also my experience - i.e. all spending on the fourth statement (third complete month) received cashback at 4% (since paid)

(If in doubt just go to right up to the fourth statement)

I don't think any credit card company takes less than 5 days to issue a credit card.. with 10 days being more typical..

Ive rang cap one cust service twice today to check this and they both told me 4% up until date of fourth statement. Which for me works out at approx 3 months and 20 days since i recieved the card hence more than 3 months of 4%. Hope this is correct otherwise i'll be having big complaints with cap one!
Am i here to save money or spend money......hmmmmm

Someone got this settled recently in writing from Cap One.
I think you should all search the board for previous threads.
If you have been treated differently, then write to them referring to the magic letter and I'm sure they will sort it out for you.
