My Suzuki "radar" keeps on alerting me of close stuff - when I am driving at less than 40mph - especially signs on the outside of a bend - I get a loud buzz. Similar from cars that have stopped 50 metres in front of me ! I have it set to least sensitive
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -

No, not just you:diystarter7 said:Btw - is it me - I find it hard to control stuff on the touch buttom dashboards as I have to take eyes of the road, I'm glad I still have a radio knob and two for climate control. As I wear glasses for driving, diffuclt to see the little symbols on the lower dash to trun on rear hear/seatsheat/cool and or chaing the air vents to sides/scress down etc
I'm confident in a few years time car makers will return to put more knobs on cars as you dont need to look down really.
The voice commands are hit and miss in my car but I've had steering controls to adjust radio etc etc since 95 and these are often well though out
BTW - a gadget that I've not heard about in other cars is when I ope my car door and lets say I have forgotten to take it out of drive, opening the door with the engine running automatically puts the car into park mode,

It's something I appreciate about my car is that it has a range of well designed physical controls that can be easily adjusted without looking. Unfortunately at the moment cars seem to be moving towards less controls which I assume is simpler and cheaper but I feel a step back for drivers.
Thnak you - there certainly are harder, ie touch buttons
The merc has two big round knobs to adust climate control - can be done via voice steering as the wheel i thin never used - as driving, reacing out left had feel the big round knob, reassuring clicks as it turns. Te radio on the merc has a kond for the volume but as i have had steering radio controls since mid 90's used to that
something like this

BMWs do this. I'd be surprised if there weren't more.diystarter7 said:a gadget that I've not heard about in other cars is when I ope my car door and lets say I have forgotten to take it out of drive, opening the door with the engine running automatically puts the car into park mode,

Could lane assist encourage centre lane hogging by discouraging an unsignalled return to the left lane after an overtake?0

"I'm confident in a few years time car makers will return to put more knobs on cars as you dont need to look down really."There are certainly more of them behind the wheel of many a vehicle now.7

Thnaks, not been in one of those for donkeys years.
It is a super gadget and one that has assisted me and is very reassuring.
Another gadget I love on our mercs/automatics is the hold brake and when you are ready to move just press the accelerator and no need to keep foot on brake

I concur!!
Honestly, having no nobs or just the one or so worries me re next car
I even recall some motoring show hosts having the same concerns
I like the steering colum elsctronic gear into D/P/N etc and padles up and down but dont like the way the paddle shift turns with the steering as I prefer them in one place.
I also like the big knob on the centre console that allows to chage the dynamics o the car etc eg, comfort drive to sports, slipper etc

The Vag group have recognised the need for physical buttons and are reintroducing themJohnmcl7 said:
