Hi all, I get a payment every month from Income Protection Insurance I paid into and now get the benefit as I'm sick. I also care for my son , would I get carers allowance does anybody know or is IP classed as income (I get about 900 a month) I'm guessing it is but can't find a definitive answer. Thanks for any replies

I doubt it with your income over £132 a week

The rules are strange, I rented out my house as was caring for my friend. Lining at theirs.
As it’s was not purchased for renting, the rent was not counted as earnings.
I could have earned £125 a week on top.1 -

Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1 -

Just an update, had a call last week and told I would be entitled to carers allowance, then a letter today to say my claim had been unsuccessful! Have asked for mandatory reconsideration.2

Are you able to give an update as to the result of the mandatory reconsideration, please?0
