Hi,
I,am celebrating my sons 2nd birthday friday by going to knowsely safari park but there is an auction that I wont to be able to bid on as will be fighting the monkeys off my car ;-)
As i dont want to leave just a max bid and then encourage everbody to rally the bidding ( as it very low at the momeant ) i thought using the above be able to act on my behalf.
What are the best free one,s - Is it worth buying one??? I am a regular buyer seller
Many thanks in advance ;-))

I use AuctionSniper - you get your first three snipes for free then it's 25 cents or 1% of the price (whichever's greater) up to a max of $9.95.
You only pay for auctions you win - no win - no fee. It can bid within seconds of the auction closing.
Hope this helps.

I use Bidsage, which is totally free to use. A quick Google will turn up a link.
I don't know how it compares to others as it the only one I've ever used, but I've never had problems with it and has proved successful..0 -

These people have a free service which offers up to 5 snipes every week and places your bid 8 secs before the end.Life should be a little nuts; otherwise it's just a bunch of Thursdays strung together.0 -
i use auctionsteeler, lets u have 3 free snipes a week but only bids with 10/20 seconds left if you dont pay a fee,if u do u can choose when it bids(1 second to go

Hi,
I have been looking into sniper software recently and it appears they fall broadly into two categories....
1. Sniper 'server sites' that place bids on your behalf at the last minute.
PROS
-doesnt require a pc or for it to be on
-As servers have direct internet connection with ebay, they are not bottlenecked like say your home dialup might be (imagine trying to bid in the last second using freeserve PAYG?)
-You can snipe on groups of similar items... once the server realises you won one, it basically doesnt perform the last second bids on the other items.
-You can get some freebie snipes as introductory offers etc etc
CONS
-You have to pay someone somewhere to keep the server going (fees)
-You have to supply the server site with your ebay ID & password (beware!)
2. Sniper software which runs on your PC (always on) and logs into ebay and places bids for you.
PROS
-This can be picked up freely, shareware or purchase a commercial solution.
-You do not divulge your ebay details to anybody else.
-you can also bid on 'groups' as per above...
CONS
-requires pc that is always on
-requires download and execution of program
-Ive heard reports that some of the free ones, whilst doing the bidding job for you, they are also acting as spyware potentially transmitting your details elsewhere (and your firewall wouldnt care because you'd have to allow the program through anyway to let the bid work!)
Which one do I use? NONE!
I really was torn between the two options and decided that I actually dont really bid on an actual lot anyway...
BUT, if you do buy alot of stuff from ebay, Id say that one of the above solutions is essential!!0 -
Check out http://www.sourceforge.net and do a search on "Ebay".
There are shedloads of free Ebay-related utilities there, most are sniper tools.
Sometimes though, free can mean "not very good" but most of the tools here are indeed good as they are open-source and regularly modified.
Plenty of other apps too.
Regards,
Crankup
PS:-
I use Auction Sentry. Recommended to me, and now I use it for all bidding. Reason I use this over a freebie is that sometimes Ebay tweaks its site which can render sniper tools useless. Auction Sentry coders are real fast with their updates (same day usually) and they install automatically.*************************

this is a great idea i always get upset when ive stayed up till 2 am to try and get something just to be beaten now i know why they won
the balls in my court now lolSorry no links in signatures by site rules - Forum Team 20 -
Can someone tell me what happens if two people are sniping on the same item? Say if they both put in a maximum bid of £10 to be bid at 8 seconds before the end?0
-
If the bids are both for the same maximum, the auction goes to whichever "sniper" got their bid in first - just the same as if someone was winning the auction from a max bid 3 days ago but your snipe only matches their top bid. I always set auctionstealer to bid in strange numbers i.e. £10.67 - it is strangely satisfying to beat a last minute bidder by 17p or something0
