15-20 years ago I sold to a cash buyer who did their own conveyancing. Went through fine (in fact, offer to completion in five weeks!). BUT, I've read on here since that solicitors (for the other party) are now very reluctant to deal with non-solicitors. In other words, the other side's solicitor may require you to have a solicitor. Not sure if that's true?

Doing your own conveyancing on a straight forward purchase would be possible.

But how do you know if it is a straight forward purchase?

Many people say that their conveyancing is simple and straight forward, but actually many are not.

You won't know whether or not it is straight forward until you are part way through the process.
