Can I claim PPI interest tax from oct 2016 in exceptional circumstances?

Hi
i had a substantial PPI payout in late 2016. I only recently found out that you can claim the tax back in interest. Unfortunately most of 2021 I was completely off the radar as I was looking after my child whilst she went through major cancer treatment. I’ve missed the deadline to claim via hmrc but are there exceptional circumstances where I could still be allowed to claim it?
