Future Pensions Centre phone lines

Hi,

Twice this week I've called the Future Pensions Centre, navigated the phone menu and  waited in the queue only for the audio not to connect through properly from my side when they answer. I can hear them, but they can't hear me. I've had this both with my landline and my computer using VoIP. I have no problem making calls to friends and family. Has anyone else had this problem?

I think no reply indicates it might just be you.  Can I suggest you ask on of the tech boards who are very helpful.

I can ask for this thread to be moved or you could just post again

My only thought is could it be a bluetooth thing. 80% of my problems relate to that

    good luck @Dodge1664
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

I'll re-post thanks. I can believe that calling using a computer might be unreliable, but I seriously doubt whether my landline is at fault.  Other posters have mentioned being mysteriously cut-off during calls to HMRC and DWP.

I've read many times on this board of people getting simply cut off after going through the various options rather than being put in a queue, presumably because the queue itself is full. But as far as I'm aware you are the only one who has reported a problem where your call is actually being answered by someone but they cannot hear you speaking,

The fact that no-one has actually responded in the affirmative to your initial post would support this.

Maybe, but against that one person has mentioned being cut off during a call to HMRC, and I have no problems calling other numbers.

It wouldn't surprise me if some people were put off responding to my OP because it contained computer jargon.
  • Currently finding it impossible to get past the brain numbing selection process, hearing the same recorded message over and over again, before being cut off!

This service is clearly not fit for purpose. Surely there has to be an easier way to make a payment for missing years NI? I wonder how many people are going to miss the July deadline because of this. Some of us simply can't spend our days redialling this number - we have jobs to do!

The trick for many has been to call as soon as the lines open in the morning to be at the front of the queue.

One trick is to call early.

Another is to post details of your forecast and missing year numbers off the Govt. Gateway and them wot have the knowledge on here will tell you which years are worth buying and which not.  Armed with that data you call HMRC for a unique payment ID.

Just look at other threads where the helpful lot here have done so for other posters.

Or, if you want to avoid the phone lines altogether, stick a cheque with accompanying letter in the post

I had the same problem twice with my iphone - have had similar issues with Scottish Power.  SP did claim to have computer issues at their end, but they do have an interesting relationship with the truth at the best of times

Deep seated hatred of Scottish Power and all who sail in her - would love to see Ofgem grow a pair and actually do something about it.
  • I have been trying to contact the Future Pensions Centre almost daily since Mid January and have had no joy. The same message about the centre being busy and to call back at another time, which i have done on different days and different days. Nearly 4 months ive been trying. This is just crazy and im now getting depressed and anxious that i cannot break through this obstacle. Can someone please help me before this seriously affects my mental welfare
