A Sunday in Brussels - what to do?

Hi all,

I'm visiting Brussels for work Monday and Tuesday next week, but have a whole of this Sunday to myself there arriving around 11am. It'll just be me so looking for things to do, see, eat, anything really to make the most of my day!

Thank you in advance.
Really should be doing some work...

Take the train to Bruges and discover a beautiful medieval town with canals chocolate and horse-drawn carriages. There are multiple trains every hour, taking an hour each way. Brussels in my opinion is for work only...

Bruges and Waterloo as mentioned are both possible, but there is plenty to see in Brussels itself.  The Grande Place is impressive being large with some amazing buildings around it.  There is the main tourist office there as well.
If you like museums and galleries, several are together up the hill near the royal palace - the main art museum and the Magritte museum next door.  Across the road is a musical museum which is excellent - you wear headphones which play music from instruments on display as you approach them.  It has the bonus of being in an amazing art nouveau building which was built as a department store called Old England.
There are a lot of other interesting buildings from that era by Horta and other architects pioneering metal framed buildings.  The tourist office I think has a walking itinerary and the Lonely Planet guidebook cetainly does.  Have a look through here for more ideas
I like Brussels which is one of those places that people often overlook as they pass through on their way to other Belgian towns.

I had a brilliant time in Brussels, found a tiny kiosk takeaway for delicious Belgian fries, joined a 4.5 hour chocolate, beer and culture walking tour and finished off with a huge bowl of mussels!
