    Thanks for the input all.
Decided to wait a while so that we can increase our budget and get what we need rather than buying something that isn't going to suit what we need to use it for. In the meantime if anyone spots any decent vans that might be suitable please let me know!
Thank you for all the advice, not wanting to make a potentially costly mistake!

    Another quick question...
If the euro 6 thing didn't really matter (is the euro 6 thing just to do with ULEZ?), would there be any different recommendations?

The Euro 6 thing is purely about low emission zones (not just London, a few cities have similar). If you don't drive into a city with a LEZ often then you don't need to worry about it and can buy something older. You may find that pre Euro-6 van get a bit cheaper as people who work in LEZ cities often upgrade  to newer ones.

The actual van choice and concerns would be the same though. Your biggest issue will be with the load capacity so you're probably going to have to get something full sized like a Ford Transit rather than a Transit Connect.

If I remember correctly, the Vauxhall Vivaro has the highest payload in class, which can be as much as 1400kg for the newer ones. I'm not sure what capacity the older ones will have though.

Also remember that with a van your speed limits on roads will be different, don’t think you can travel at 60mph on a single carriageway, you’ll get a ticket, ( don’t ask me how I know)
