Is this a very new meter or have you had a meter change ?
On your bill what is the letter against the meter readings - A, C, E , S - our read your read ? Have you read the meter yourself - not the In House Display Toy but the meter in the outdoor meter box . The meter may once have been Smart but no longerNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

Total gas charges look about right for Next Flex PORB (Payment on Receipt of Bill).
Did you try giving them a manual read between 1st Jan and 12th March?
Perhaps this might be a wake-up call to monitor your energy usage carefully.0 -
I think your question is not about the calculation, which is correct, but more about your usage,
As @MattMattMattUK already said it is a bit higher than than the Ofgem average been used fro calculations of 12000KWh, but there is nothing extreme about it.
You don't mention at all how you are using your gas, there is a huge difference depending on how many hours you use heating, the temperature, which rooms you are and how many people are there to use hot water, how often and bath or long or short shower.
Depending on the above for a three bedroom house you may see usage of 6000KWh per year, or 30000KWh.
Also there were two cold spells in Janaury and March.
What was your usage over a 12 months period before you got the new meter?
