Morning from a sunny but soggy mehefinland
My word it must have rained a little overnight, the dip on the end of our road is flooded. Wonder how many will get stuck this time!
Well 2 weekends on the trot we have been to birthday parties. The first was a surprise joint 70th in a very posh ( read expensive) hotel. About 30 people from all over the country had made the effort. It was a lovely afternoon/evening but the food was pretty poor considering that this is a top notch venue. The room had been decorated by the daughter and it looked superb. A complete and utter surprise for the couple and the picture on her face said it all.. the language was something else ( expletive deleted ha ha ). The room was chilly though so it did put a slight dampener on things.
The second one was a local hostelry in a private room. Just eight of us. A good time had by all although again the food was disappointing. This place has aspirations to be Michelin star, but it didn't hack it this time. They gave us 2 different menus to start with. Then they didn't have sufficient of a simple starter. One's beef was tough, one undercooked and so on. However it was a rugby day and they were giving out a free curry at halftime. The place was packed so we were glad to have a bit of privacy, and as the birthday boy is about to start chemo it was just as well we were separate. A good time otherwise and a long overdue catchup.
Back to normality and the humdrum this week lol. Farrier tomorrow afternoon so hopefully the weather will play ball and stay dry, although the field is like a soggy sponge at the moment. It squelches ( isn't that a great descriptive word) underfoot as you walk across. Showman is the colour of mud so that looks like a bit of work later. The mares are coming into season and expressing themselves rather obviously iykwim. Spring is springing so it is no surprise really.
Hugs and spoons as always.
