Passport Validity

I am going to Gran Canaria in April 2023 my passport issue date is June 2013 and expiry date is August 2023 is the extra 2 months still valid for travel or is the 10 years now from issue date?

The ten years is from the issue date therefore it’s only valid until April 2023 if you are travelling to Europe. You will also need three months validity so you will need to renew your passports before you travel in April1

Think you may have left it too late, re the recent news of the passport office 5 week strike. They have been quoting 10 weeks turnaround a few weeks ago. My passport expired in August but did a renewal 3 or so weeks ago, only took 2 weeks.1

To enter the EU on a British passport, it needs to meet two criteria.
- It must have been issued in the past 10 years at the time of entry.
- It must be valid for at least three months on the date that you exit the EU.
You left it a bit late to check but not a problem as it turns out....1 -
The potential problem is how the airline interprets the rules.
