DWP call this morning

I applied for PIP last December , and today I got a call from the DWP asking me a few more questions , she said it would now be passed on to see if I need a face to face assessment .
Is this normal for this to happen ?
Thanks

Entirely normal.  Additional information may be requested when the claim form is looked at.  Once all information has been provided it is passed on for the claim itself to be assessed.

  • Personally I think it's good.
You would only get a call if they believe a decision can be made without the need for assessment.
The more open you were the better your chance.

Thank you , I just hope they don't take a long time , we are financially struggling and being awarded would greatly ease our situation . I know we are all struggling I am no special , but we are in contact with our mortgage provider as have had no income since November last year when I was undergoing tests for cancer , and in December I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and had surgery a total hysterectomy in Jan , husband is self employed and I didn't have the surgery locally I had to travel, he has taken time off to be with me as I have mental health issues on top of this illness . The business is rubbish as he can only open a few days a week because of me , so I am hoping you are right in that they can make a decision without the need for face to face assessment , i am prepared for a refusal of PIP , but MacMillan have said they will take it to tribunal as they believe I qualify on both illnesses . Sorry didn't mean to burden you with my problems , just thought I would add a little more information as to why they might have called me .

Good to hear it's resolved.  At least that is one less thing to worry about.

You were right I got awarded 14 April , standard daily living and enhanced mobility , get free road tax and applied for a blue badge , waiting to hear back . Thanks again for your reply .
Back dated to the start of your claim I hope.   Which should help somewhat.  And don't forget the extra COL payments for PIP claimants.
