To fix or not to fix

I bought a Peugeot 208 1.6 Diesel with adblue in 2019. It had 22,000 on the clock.

I have just had issues with the adblue system. Peugeot says it needs a new catalytic converter (apparently it is cracked), new adblue injector, potentially new adblue tank. I am looking at £3250+ (depending upon what else they find).

It has 72000 on the clock. Seems a shame to scrap it but the car is only worth £4800 at best.

What would others do? I feel annoyed that this adblue system has made the car unusable.

Did you buy it new in 2019?

I would be looking for some goodwill from Peugeot if so.
  • No, bought it second hand with 20k on the clock.

Put it for sale, via an auction?
  • It has a Adblue warning light on the dash.
  • It is a 65 plate. 7 years old.

Is there an independent specialist in your area? I imagine it could be fixed for considerably less than main dealer prices.
Last time I needed a catalytic converter, the official (Skoda) part was £1300 and an aftermarket part was £500.

I have to agree with mgfvvc, find a indie Citroen/Peugeot specialist.

Sounds like the dealer has scattergunned a load of expensive probables for an Adblue problem, which is usually a common issue with Adblue tank.
The crack in the Cat might even weld up.
