Coincidence or BS?
So Scottish Power have sent me notification of changes to my energy costs from 1 April - annual gas cost decreases in cost by £7 whereas electricity is estimated to increase by ... £7! I'm calling BS (especially as their estimate for my gas usage is £680 when I've actually spent £135 on my prepayment meter over 11 months)!

As your on prepay - it's not like they are upping your annualised DD.But seriously - check - and as long as the unit prices - after discount - assuming your on a SVT - match the EPG prices from govt website - your OK

How exactly did you manage to only use £135 for gas in 11 months if the standing charge for prepay is already £125? Are you sure you arre calculating this correct?2

My bad - didn't add in last weeks charges! Actual spend is £140.82 since 25/5/2022 - still nowhere near £680 a year. I generally put a maximum of £15 per month in the prepay meter and take a daily reading - average spend per day comes in at £0.47. Gas is for hot water and heating - neither of which I use very much of.pochase said:How exactly did you manage to only use £135 for gas in 11 months if the standing charge for prepay is already £125? Gas Standing Charge - Prepayment until 1 April is IRO 37.51p per day = £136.91 per year0

25/5/22 to today is 300 days so £112.53 for standing charges. That leaves £28.29 in real gas use, just slightly more than 1KWh per day.
If that is correct you would be using less than 5% of the famous typical Ofgem usage of 12000KWh per year. No supplier will work with an estimate of less than 500KWh for gas.
If the usage is correct gas does not make any sense for you, but I assume you are renting and cannot get rid of the gas meter.

Very true - I have an electric shower and no bath so the gas only gets used for washing up and on the odd occasion when the temperature drops to single figures inside.pochase said:25/5/22 to today is 300 days so £112.53 for standing charges.
