My father in law has had a stroke and lacks mental capacity. He has no LPA in place. His sons are making enquiries about deputyship but have been told it takes 12 months. What do we do in the meantime to manage his finances?

Struggle, is the brutally honest response.
If any of his sons are able to 'subsidise' things, keeping careful accounts, then these things could be refunded in the fullness of time. I believe someone could be made Appointee for any benefits he receives, and communicate with the pension service, DWP etc.Signature removed for peace of mind2
