Fedex will be happy, because they get to keep the administration fee they charged you. As for the rest of us, the sunlit uplands must be only a few decades away now, so be patient...BarryLA said:Must be one of these great Brexit achievements.1 -

Cannot find any "UK site", they just have one .com site.BarryLA said:Having seen a Ten C coat I liked in a UK shop I visited the Ten C website, which on google search said "Ten C United Kingdom" and ordered two items at a cost of £1300. At no point did I realise I was ordering form outside the UK
If you look in the FAQ it says right at the end of the first question in Delivery:
Deliveries to the United Kingdom will be subject to customs fees for orders starting from 135 pounds.
Which is inline with post Brexit UK import rules.
Unfortunately since Brexit import taxes have become much more prevalent as pre-brexit that order would have just had Italian tax paid at point of purchase and nothing else to pay in the UK. Certainly worth double checking things more closely these days. Check info in the delivery/postage section for clues and also in the Legal section... there on this case you can see the company is a "S.p.A" (Società per Azioni) whereas a UK company would be a Ltd or PLC
You will need to deal with HMRC in relation to requesting a refund for the taxes, the courier fee is lost.0 -
Yes, what a magnificent achievement that people can now either buy Chinese made stuff from Amazon UK for a bit more than it cost before, or Chinese made stuff from Amazon Germany for a whole lot more than it cost before. It's really turned the UK into an economic powerhouse.powerful_Rogue said:
Indeed it is. Encourages people to purchase goods in the UK and long may it continue.BarryLA said:Must be one of these great Brexit achievements.

Not massively given most of the EU has the same VAT level and for moderate purchases (parcels up to £135) VAT is paid by the sender not the recipient.powerful_Rogue said:

Its more meant to even the playing field between the seller in France to the seller in Morocco and therefore make non-EU trade dealers easier to do.outtatune said:

Not 100% clear what you mean but if you are talking about a Chinese seller shipping from China then the difference are:
1) Very low value orders are now subject to VAT where they were previously exempt, .de or .co.uk makes no difference
2) £19-£135 are still subject to VAT but is collected by .de or .co.uk and therefore removes the chinese company's ability to falsely declare the value
3) >£135 are still subject to VAT and customs duty but paid by the importer and so chinese company now able to falsely declare value again. Again .de and .co.uk makes no difference.0
